Going for the dough might sound simple but it requires a lot of skill to understand your users needs and see past them to the point of return on investment. There could be return on investment in simplification of a complex IT landscpae, a reduction of licenses or even a reduction of load on legacy servers.
You need to learn to see user requirements as an end-to-end solution and work to understand exactly what ROI can be driven. Lots of companies these day build huge big data lakes, but they don’t think to understand what value the data has. It’s better to have a little data of excellent quality, rather than billions of records of 20% quality data.
Aim for what will make a difference, and the easist dfference to make is saving money or making money.
